GOSSIP: New Jersey Paid For “The Jersey Shore”!?
New Jersey residents actually paid for the cast of Jersey Shore to rebrand their state. The New York Post revealed that the state Economic Development Authority approved covering $420,000 of the production costs for the show’s first season, which was filmed in 2009. Assemblyman Declan O’Scanlon told The Star-Ledger of Newark and The Record newspaper that he can’t believe taxpayers are paying “for fake tanning for Snooki and The Situation.” That was the only season in which the bill was footed by taxpayers because Governor Chris Christie suspended the film tax credit program in 2010 to close a budget deficit.
