REVIEW: NKOTBSB Bring The Hits Back To Indianapolis!

For 25 years the boy band epidemic has caused us to go wild. We’ve been Hangin Tough with the New Kids and Gotten Down with the Backstreet Boys. After 25 years with the New Kids and 18 with the Backstreet Boys, the group came together Tuesday, July 26 at Conseco Field. The two bands joined thousands of their original screaming fans along side thousands of their new screaming fans in what I call the ultimate Boy Band experience. Being an 18 year Backstreet Veteran, I’ve seen the Backstreet boys fall from the sky, emerge from coffins and give the state fair a large arena feel. Tuesday Night the two groups came together and brought it just as hard as they did 18 years ago.

Both bands took the spot light and gave each individual fan a high point of the night. The Backstreet Boys start up with “The Call” got the crowd ready to go, and every flash of Donnie Wahlberg’s abs caused us to lose our voices. While the music was on point every step of the ways the two bands brought in elements of Prince, Queen, ACDC and other favorites. The lights and effects put an extra impact on the entire show making it the best display of the two bands talents throughout the night.

The best part about the show was that both bands gave the crowd exactly what they wanted. Starting with the Backstreet Boys bringing four screaming fans onto stage and serenading them with a single rose, Backstreet Boys style on one knee. New Kids later entered the crowd to give everyone close up, one-on-one time. The Backstreet Boys later entered the arena from opposite sides of the stands to surprise their fans. Both Backstreet and New Kids fans got great performances of each bands individual hits including New Kids “Step by Step” and Backstreets “I want it That Way,” the bands came together to merge some of their most popular hits in the NKOTBSB Mash Up.

The set list couldn’t have covered a better set of songs. The choreography was on point. The lights and effects made me jump more than once. With the stage giving the opportunity to give every seat in the house a great view everyone was able to enjoy every moment of the concert. The night which ended with an Indianapolis inspired encore where all sporting Indianapolis Pacers jerseys was the perfect ending to the best combination of Boy Band talent that I could imagine. It gave us an experience that wanted every fan wanting more. It was the perfect night that gave their fans a Boy Band high and memories that will last forever.
