GOSSIP: MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM GORILLAZ…FREE ALBUM!

There’s been a lot of talk lately about the upcoming Gorillaz album which was recorded on an iPad.  We recently told you that the set would be given away as a free download on Christmas Day – find it here ! And now we know the title.  Damon Albarn of the band says they are calling it The Fall, because of the time of year it was recorded.  Here’s his explanation.

“I wrote it in October.  I didn’t want to call it October because U2 had already used that. Although I like the word October, I like the month, I like the feeling.”

Those of you hoping to see the band promoting the new release might have to wait for a while.  Albarn says they plan to put Gorillaz on the back burner for a bit following the end of their current world tour which wraps up on December 21st in New Zealand.

He also says he is currently working on “a piece for the Manchester International Festival about Elizabethan occult philosophy.”  Your guess is as good as ours as to how that project will sound.
