Leading into the Brickyard 400 race weekend, the City of Indianapolis will dye the downtown canal purple to honor U.S. Marine Corps Sergeant Jeff Kyle as well as all past and present men and women of our nation’s military who have served with immeasurable dedication, distinction and honor.

In addition to the dyeing of the canal, Mayor Gregory Ballard will be presenting Kyle with a proclamation declaring that Friday, July 24, 2015 will be “Jeff Kyle Day” in Indianapolis. The canal will be dyed on Friday and will stay purple for the remainder of race weekend. Indianapolis Motor Speedway President Doug Boles and Crown Royal Brand Director Matt Pechman will also be in attendance.

Kyle will be recognized throughout the weekend as the Brickyard 400 race namesake. Each year, Crown Royal teams up with Indianapolis Motor Speedway to rename the Brickyard 400 after a deserving hero and this year’s race is officially titled Crown Royal Presents the Jeff Kyle 400 at the Brickyard.

Sergeant Jeff Kyle served in the Marine Corps for eight years and was deployed to both Iraq and Africa. While serving with the 3rd Marine Division, Kyle received the Navy Achievement Medal and since he has returned home he continues to help others. Kyle sits on the board of the Guardian for Heroes Foundation as well as American Valor where he champions for military veterans and their families.
