Kyle & Rachel: Mystery Person Behind ‘Hidden Cash Indy’ Revealed!
Hello!
Most of you now know me as the #hiddencashindy guy. I also happen to be a guy who is blessed to wake up each morning with you on the Kyle & Rachel morning show on RadioNOW 100.9FM. Playing music , and most importantly, having FUN, with you and all of my morning radio friends, right here in the city that I love dearly, Indianapolis. I am a lifelong Hoosier who grew up in Pendleton and later attended Butler University. As much as I love my Bulldogs, I love Indianapolis and the people in Indiana more. I wanted to create something that could spread love, smiles and FUN across our city. So, I played like George Clooney in Ocean’s 11 and stole a brilliant pay it forward idea that someone started in California.
Recently, I created @HiddenCashIndy on Twitter to get the FUN started. The idea was simple, hide cash, tweet out clues and let you have fun tracking down the money with the premise of paying it forward. With YOUR help, the message of paying it forward and ‘making someone smile today’ spread across our city quicker than I could have ever imagined! In a matter of just a few short weeks, the @hiddencashindy account grew to 15,000 followers. As exciting as it was seeing the joy of the individuals who received the money, it has been just as wonderful reading your Tweets about the great time you’ve had trying to find it.
For those of you who did find the cash, you were doing something amazing with it! James bought coffee for the 20 people behind him in line. Another person wanted to take their military father on a trip to Vietnam where he served. Rose simply wanted to get ice cream for people on a hot day in Indy. Buffy wanted to pay it forward by donating to her church and Down Syndrome Indiana. The final recipient, Adam, donated his cash find to the Humane Society. Those are just a few of the amazing stories. I’m sure this city has hundreds more.
I knew when #hiddencashindy’ started it was important to remain a mystery. If local media knew I did a morning show in Indianapolis, it might not have gained the traction it needed to deliver the greater overall message. A HUGE thanks to a really great Indianapolis media community who helped champion “paying it forward” with me and covering something greater than the person tweeting from a mystery account.
More importantly, I want to thank everyone who participated and tracked high and low for a pile of cash. You made me realize something more that I already knew, how awesome the people are in Indianapolis and the whole state of Indiana. Finding cash is definitely nice, but making someone smile and paying it forward is even better.
As a favor to me, and to Indianapolis, why not “Make someone Smile Today, Pay It Forward”.
Best,
Kyle AKA @HiddenCashIndy
