Adele’s 2012 is ending on another high note. On Thursday, her album “21” topped the list of the year’s best-selling albums for the second year in a row. “Twenty One,” which was released in early 2011, beat out some of the biggest albums of the year. Taylor Swift’s “Red” was the runner-up, followed by Mumford & Sons’ “Babel,” One Direction’s “Take Me Home,” and fun.’s “Some Nights.” The list was determined based on sales between January 1st through December 3rd, 2012. Adele’s Grammy-winning breakout album has reached other milestones in the year after its release. Earlier this year, it became the 21st album in over 20 years to sell ten million copies in the U.S. As for songs, Carly Rae Jepsen’s smash hit “Call Me Maybe” was named the most downloaded album on iTunes this year, followed by Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know” and fun.’s “We Are Young.”

Adele’s Bond theme “Skyfall” has also been nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Original Song. “Skyfall” is up against some popular artists in the Best Original Song category including Taylor Swift’s “Safe & Sound” from “The Hunger Games,” Jon Bon Jovi’s “Not Running Anymore” from “Stand Up Guys,” Keith Urban’s “For You” from “Act of Valor” and the song performed by Hugh Jackman in “Les Miserables” called “Suddenly.”
