Not many 66-year-old dudes know how to tweet. Moreover, very few rock and roll legends have used Twitter for a midweek Q&A session. But let’s face it — as he has proved time and again throughout his 50-year career as a musician and activist — Neil Young marches to the rhythm of his own guitar.

To herald the release of his 35th studio album, titled Psychedelic Pill, @NeilYoung will field questions from fans during a #LegendsOnTwitter session starting at 3 p.m. (EDT) on Wednesday. Tweet your questions with the hashtag #AskNeil.

At the same time, fans can visit Young’s official website and stream the entire new album, which officially hits stores on Oct. 30. Psychedelic Pill is Young’s second release of 2012, the other being Americana, both of which he recorded with Crazy Horse, a band he has recorded and toured with numerous times throughout his career.

Want to get involved, but don’t know what to #AskNeil? You could certainly ask about your favorite songs, albums and what it’s like to be a rock demigod — Young has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice. He is also involved with quite a few side projects. His high-definition portable audio player, Pono, which means “righteousness” in Hawaiian, should be available commercially in 2013. The player is sort of an iPod for audiophiles.

Young also co-founded the Bridge School for children with extreme physical and communication disabilities. His recently released autobiography, Waging Heavy Peace, discusses everything from jam sessions with Charles Manson to his guilt for Kurt Cobain’s suicide to his recent break from alcohol and drugs.

On a lighter note, Young met his wife Pegi in 1974 when she was a waitress at a small-town diner, which he famously notes in his song “Unknown Legend.” The two have been married since 1978, and Pegi regularly tours as a backup singer in Young’s band. READ MORE
